Ayade Presents N1.3trn Budget, Biggest In Nigeria’s History

Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, has presented the 2018 Appropriation Bill of N1.3trillion to the State House of Assembly.

The budget is the largest a state has ever presented in Nigeria’s history, although Lagos State presented N812billion budget for 2017.

President Buhari To Attend Counter-Terrorism Summit In Jordan

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to attend a counter-terrorism summit in Jordan on December 2 and 3.

A statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said the President would join other Heads of State in Aqaba, to review strategies in fighting terrorism and reinforce joint proactive security structures in preventing attacks.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday remanded in Suleja Prison, Niger State, a former aide to former Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State and two other officials of the state, for allegedly diverting fraudulently Benue State’s N16.6bn.

Buhari’s visit to Turkey attracts 23 companies

Sirleaf made the remark at a meeting with students of the Rochas Foundation College of Africa in Owerri on Friday.

Federal Government to Partner with Cross River State Government on Disaster Management

The Federal Government said on Saturday that it would work closely with the Cross River Government to evolve ways of managing man-made and natural disasters in the state.

Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the team leader and Senior Technical Adviser on Disaster Risk Management, Office of the Vice-President, made this known in Calabar while speaking with journalists after inspecting some disaster sites across the state.

ABOUT HOME FINISHING SKILLS PROGRAMME:

The Home Finishing Skills programme is structured to address and fill the yawning gap of skilled craftsmen and craftsmanship in finishing of construction projects, especially homes and offices in Nigeria.

This programme therefore seeks to develop and deliver training, under the supervision of world class experts from the UK, for 100 qualified participants, in the first instance.

Snakes kill 250 in Plateau, Gombe in three weeks


Two hundred and fifty victims of snake bite have died in the last three weeks in Plateau and Gombe States, following an acute scarcity of snake anti-venom drugs in the country.

The figure represents the number of confirmed deaths from three snake treatment centres – General Hospital, Kaltungo, Ali Mega Pharmacy, Gombe and Comprehensive Medical Centre, Zamko, Plateau State.

Kaduna: 21,780 Teachers To Be Disengaged

The Kaduna State government will disengage 21,780 teachers for incompetency, The Nation reports.

Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Nasiru Umar, said at a news conference yesterday, that any teacher who failed the primary four test should approach the committee raised to look into their complaints. Their scripts could be re-marked, he added.
